Plan a Summer 2021 Event
It’s so exciting that we can finally put things in our diary! This Summer is the perfect opportunity to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, friends, family, colleagues or simply making it through a tough year. We’ve put together some ideas for events to plan for this Summer...
Isn’t it fascinating to see how businesses and events have adapted to moving outdoors? We are struggling to remember a time when we didn’t take a blanket to the pub or eat outside with friends. Get creative (and be sensibly cautious of the roadmap timeline) and take your event plans outdoors. We’ve seen Shakespeare performances with guests on picnic blankets, outdoor cinemas with viewers on deckchairs, networking drinks in the sunshine and a mini fete. And yes, we are biased, but we have the most beautiful Lawns (with the stunning backdrop of Cheltenham Ladies’ College) to hold your outdoors event, with brilliant indoor options should the weather be against us.
Weddings from 21 June are back. Fingers crossed everything with the ‘roadmap’ goes to plan and full capacity weddings will be allowed to run again. With potentially 3 years' worth of engaged couples looking for venues, there is limited availability so be creative of where you want to celebrate. Swap stuffy hotel conference rooms for lavish green lawns. Or modern and functional for historic grandeur. Avoid researching complicated external caterers and opt for experience in-house teams. Make it easy for yourself and connect with local suppliers to help do all the hard work!
Summer Holidays are restricted to the UK this year. Embrace the Great British Weather and create your own Summer Party with friends. There is certainly a trend to celebrate all the ‘lockdown’ birthdays we missed last year with one big party or delay the annual Christmas party to sunnier months. Think delicious BBQ food, live music and fantastic funfair fun for kids. Maybe you could even set up an outdoor cinema, encourage fancy dress or hire a magician to entertain your guests. External decorators and florists have become particularly brilliant at working with the great outdoors (adding picnic spaces, outdoor dining spaces and floral displays) if you’d like to create something more memorable and #instaworthy.
Have you only seen your work colleagues through a screen this year? There’s no better time to get the team back together for a team building day. Design your own day to suit your team. Are you all in need of a bit of fun with some games, sports day-style activities and competitive quizzes? Or perhaps a more calming wellbeing day of yoga, swimming and afternoon tea? We’ve put together some team building packages as a starting point for your day.
At Cheltenham Ladies’ College, we love holding events during the Summer Holidays (plus as our pupils are offsite, we get the whole place to ourselves!). If you would like to hold an event between 12 July – 7 September 2021, do get in touch – we'd love to hear your ideas.
Our venues are Visit England approved as ‘good-to-go' and we will adhere to all government guidelines on reopening venues safely. Under the current roadmap guidelines, venues can open at half capacity from 17 May and full capacity from 21 June.
